Synopsis:
In Gato Voyagero, Maow, a thoughtful and introspective house cat from Bogotá, tires of his noisy vampire owner and sets off on an epic journey to find his place in the world.
Along the way, he encounters unique characters, from a noisy crow in Podgorica to a wise and gentle fox named Robot.
As Maow navigates new territories and confronts his fears, he learns valuable lessons about independence, self-discovery, and the importance of connection.
Despite yearning for solitude, Mow's adventures teach him that true freedom and peace come from within.

Maow by using his ability to travel through shadows, gets lost and descends into an abyss of solitude and self-doubt, struggling against the weight of his own darkness as he searches for a way back to the light.

This episode is a visual dive into the silent battle of depression, and the quiet strength it takes to climb back up.

EPISODE 3 | NEW HORIZONS

Maow finally emerges from the shadows and appears on the other side of the world. Contemplating the landscape in Podgorica, Montenegro - eastern Europe, a local crow arrives and Maow doesn't know if the guy is friendly, but a dark feeling comes from the stranger's vibes.

This episode talks about the overwhelming feeling of being a foreigner in unfamiliar countries. Based in a real travel experience.

CHARACTERS

INSPIRATION

The inspiration for Gato Voyagero began with my own travels, capturing pictures of the places and landscapes I explored while wrestling with questions of identity, belonging, and depression.

My real black cat, with his broken ear, became a companion and muse; I started painting him into those photos, and from there the idea grew into scripts and eventually a 13-episode arc.

Each episode reflects fragments of my lived experiences, inner struggles, and encounters with people and cultures, transformed through Maow’s journey. In a world reshaped by postmodern uncertainty, Gato Voyagero channels my search for meaning into a cat who walks through shadows curious, restless, and always trying to find his place.

For me, this series is not just an artistic project, it’s a way of giving shape to that struggle, and transforming it into something that others who feel lost or restless might recognize in themselves.
